Are You a Crape Myrtle
Headhunter? It is time to start pruning and preparing
your trees and shrubs for spring. One of the biggest mistakes
in our area is the merciless beheading of the Crape Myrtle.
If your crape myrtle needs shaping or if it has a lot of weak
sucker-like growth on the main stems, prune it now. Because
crape myrtles bloom on new wood, pruning will stimulate flowering
in the summer. But many crape myrtles bloom fine with no pruning
at all. And remember that the severe beheading many area crape
myrtles receive every winter is never advised.... 901.626.8065
